WoW Classic Versus WoW Shadowlands

WoW Classic launched last year and we can say that it was a success. Many players wanted to experience the game as it was when it launched in 2004. Now, we have a new retail expansion on the horizon. Let’s take a look at some of the most notable differences between WoW Classic and WoW Shadowlands.

Classes in WoW Classic are totally different from their retail counterpart. The class mechanics have been updated so many times and some of the old vanilla features are not present in the retail version. For example, soul shards for retail warlocks don’t take up inventory space anymore. They have been transformed into a resource just like mana. This is just one of the many differences. If you have been playing a class in WoW Classic, be prepared for a completely different experience when you play the same class in Shadowlands. Not to mention that Shadowlands has many more classes than the original version. There are also more races and race/class combos available. The upcoming expansion will feature a wide array of customization options. We also have to mention the graphics. The retail version looks much better than the old variant.

The face of Azeroth has changed a lot in the last 16 years. In WoW Classic we have only two continents, but in Shadowlands, we have many more new zones. Each expansion has added new zones. Shadowlands will add five more so get ready to explore a huge world. As you can imagine, the story has developed a lot since WoW Vanilla. Gone are the days when Ragnaros, Nefarian, and Kel’Thuzad were the most powerful bosses in Azeroth. We will face new enemies from the new zones and maybe some of the old WoW characters.

Covenants are a unique Shadowlands feature. There are four Covenants and they are a bit similar to NPC factions. Each Covenant has different content, such as quests, abilities, and cosmetics like mounts and transmog items. Keep in mind that some classes will work better with certain Covenants so be careful which one you choose.

The Shadowlands expansion brings the concept of infinite dungeon. You can enter this new activity alone or in a group. Each time you do this dungeon, you meet different enemies. Shadowlands comes with a level cap reduction. The max level is scaled to 60 because we are already at 120 and 130 would be too much. Leveling in Shadowlands is much smoother than leveling in WoW Classic. Which one will you be playing?
